Key Background

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) has named Bhawna Agarwal as its Senior Vice President and Managing Director of Indian operations. The change in leadership marks a watershed moment for HPE in India, with Agarwal taking the place of Som Satsangi, a veteran of the industry with more than 27 years of experience at the organization. Satsangi, MD of HPE India since 2016, will also continue to remain associated with the company up to July 2025 so that the transition is not sudden.

Agarwal joined HPE since 2019 and has been under the spotlight since then, earlier head of Compute Business Unit and Growth. She added another feather to her hat last year as well, taking care of account management and industry verticals for India as well. She has over 25 years of work experience till date and her experience is divided equally between digital-first startups, media conglomerates, and giant consumer technology firms. Known for vision-driven leadership and trailblazing approach, Agarwal will lead HPE India into the future wave of growth.

The leadership change is happening because HPE is placing bigger bets in India, as part of “Make in India,” among others. Agarwal and Satsangi were some of the HPE leaders who revealed HPE’s 6001st India-built server with government officials, earlier this year. HPE’s India business is one of the company’s largest outside of the U.S., and India is a very critical part of the company’s global manufacturing, R&D, and business expansion plans.

As Managing Director, Agarwal will lead HPE’s edge-to-cloud solutions business in India, driving partnership and driving innovation. She bet her vision on customer impact, growth at scale, and technological excellence. HPE reaffirms its strategic direction with the appointment of Agarwal and places itself to capture leadership of India’s fast-evolving digital economy.
