Luxury watchmaking has long stood for precision engineering, heritage, exceptional craftsmanship and exclusivity. Established European houses built the industry through generations of technical expertise and distinctive design philosophies, and collectors have built relationships with them over generations. The global luxury market also values originality and individual expression, which leaves room for new names to bring different cultural perspectives while meeting international standards of quality. For India, a country celebrated for its jewellery, textiles, artistic traditions and skilled craftsmanship, this is a chance to build a stronger identity in haute horlogerie. Moving beyond a consumer market requires original ideas, technical knowledge, and a commitment to making products that earn recognition on their own merits.

Krishiv Tekchandani, Founder of XII NOON, is pursuing this goal through a luxury watchmaking maison that brings international horological expertise together with Indian artistic expression. His ambition reaches beyond exclusive timepieces. He wants to contribute to the evolution of Indian luxury on the global stage and to show that Indian origin can become a mark of distinction in a category long dominated by international houses. Built on individuality, craftsmanship, cultural identity and meaningful ownership, XII NOON aims to form lasting relationships with collectors and stay relevant across generations, according to him.

A Vision Beyond Conventional Luxury

The idea for XII NOON began with a wish to look past the conventional understanding of luxury watchmaking. Krishiv saw an opportunity to bring a distinctly Indian perspective into a space historically led by established European houses. The industry, he observes, has mastered precision, heritage and prestige, yet there is room for a philosophy that gives equal weight to exceptional craftsmanship, cultural identity, artistic expression and a deeper sense of purpose.

That belief shaped the brand’s guiding principle, Make in Bharat, For the World. XII NOON combines Swiss precision, European craftsmanship and the creative spirit of Bharat. Each timepiece is conceived as wearable art for discerning collectors who value rarity, individuality and meaning over mass recognition. The aim is not to copy established international names but to build an identity that stands on its own.

He believes this calls for a shift in mindset. India must move beyond being seen merely as a market for established luxury brands and show that it can create original products, develop intellectual property and build institutions with enduring value. That requires investment in skilled artisans, technical knowledge, design innovation and uncompromising quality. In his words, “My ambition is to see Bharat recognised not just as a consumer of global luxury, but as a creator of it.”

The Meaning of XII NOON

The name carries the philosophy. Krishiv explains that at noon the sun reaches its zenith, a moment of strength, clarity and culmination, and for him it represents the pursuit of one’s highest potential. The Roman numerals evoke timelessness, heritage and the enduring traditions of horology, while noon points to a forward-looking ambition to reach new heights.

The idea also reflects how he approaches life and entrepreneurship. Success, he believes, is not only about reaching a destination. It is about the standards a person sets, the sacrifices made along the way and the legacy left behind. There is always a higher benchmark to pursue, a boundary to challenge and an opportunity to create something that did not exist before. He puts it plainly: “Excellence is not an accident; it is the outcome of ambition guided by discipline, consistency and an uncompromising commitment to one’s vision.”

This mindset runs through the design, the craftsmanship and the exclusivity of the brand. XII NOON does not create products to follow trends or satisfy mass consumption. It seeks meaningful, lasting pieces that reflect the character of the people who own them. The brand, according to him, is a philosophy before it is a watchmaking house: striving for your zenith while remaining grounded in your values.

Exclusivity by Design

A defining choice for XII NOON is to limit annual production to just 45 creations and to follow an invitation-only ownership model. Krishiv Tekchandani explains that the decision follows from his view of luxury. In an age when luxury is increasingly visible and widely accessible, he wanted to build something more personal. “For me, true luxury has never been about how many people can acquire something; it is about how deeply something can resonate with the person who owns it.”

Rarity, in his view, should come from genuine intent, exceptional craftsmanship and limited creative output, not from a marketing strategy. Each creation is an opportunity to tell a story, express an idea and bring together materials, expertise and artistry in a way that deserves to exist.

Limited production also keeps the brand deeply involved in the creative process and focused on detail, and it gives every creation its own significance within the larger story. Exclusivity, he adds, goes beyond numbers. It is about the relationship with collectors, who should feel they are becoming part of a shared philosophy rather than simply acquiring a timepiece. Every piece should carry a personal connection, a sense of belonging and a story that continues long after it leaves the brand’s hands.

Ownership Granted, Not Sold

The principle Ownership Granted, Not Sold is, as Krishiv describes it, a statement about how luxury should be experienced. Traditionally, luxury is defined by a transaction, the ability to purchase something of exceptional value. XII NOON wants to move past that idea and make ownership personal and considered. Its timepieces are therefore not meant for conventional retail distribution. The intention is not simply to make a watch available but to make its ownership meaningful.

Who joins the circle is decided by values rather than visibility. He looks for individuals who show integrity, individuality, an appreciation for fine craftsmanship and genuine respect for the stories and traditions behind the creations. Their achievements may be remarkable, but their character, their perspective and the legacy they wish to leave matter equally. True exclusivity, he believes, should never be reduced to wealth or social status. It should reflect a deeper alignment between the individual and the philosophy of the brand. “A XII NOON creation should mean something to its custodian beyond its materials, its rarity or its monetary value.”

The word granted carries responsibility, he says. Each collector becomes a custodian of a creation that holds the brand’s vision, its craftsmanship and its ambition for Indian luxury. For him, the greatest privilege is not to create something everyone wants to own but something the right person understands, values and chooses to preserve for generations.

Craftsmanship, Materials, and Design

His approach to craftsmanship, Krishiv explains, begins with a simple principle: “Every element must have a reason to exist.” He does not believe luxury is defined merely by the value of the materials used. It is defined by the thought, precision and artistry with which they are brought together.

Material selection is guided by authenticity, quality and character. Whether the work involves precious metals, natural diamonds or exceptional gemstones, the brand looks beyond intrinsic value to see how each material shapes the identity of a creation. The cut, colour, clarity, setting and overall harmony of a gemstone must complement the design rather than simply add ornamentation. Every material should serve a larger creative vision.

Design, he says, is where technical precision meets artistic expression. He wants timepieces with a distinctive identity, recognisable without being excessive and sophisticated without losing their individuality. Inspiration comes from India’s cultural heritage, architecture, symbolism and spirit, interpreted through a contemporary luxury lens.

Quality, he adds, is not a final checkpoint. It informs every stage, from the initial concept and material selection to assembly, finishing and inspection, and each creation must meet the brand’s standards before it reaches its custodian. Small details matter because excellence is often revealed in elements that may not be immediately visible. His ambition is for timepieces that are exceptional when first encountered and still treasured decades later.

Where Global Expertise Meets Indian Identity

The brand’s direction rests on a balance. Krishiv believes the most compelling luxury creations emerge when global expertise meets a deeply rooted sense of identity. The objective is not to imitate established international watchmakers but to develop a distinctive Indian voice in haute horlogerie. International expertise informs technical precision and performance, he explains, while the Indian identity gives the timepieces their character, symbolism and purpose.

India’s cultural vocabulary, from its architecture and ancient philosophies to its craftsmanship and traditions, holds immense potential for him. The challenge is to interpret these influences with sensitivity and sophistication, so that cultural inspiration becomes part of the design rather than a decorative element. Discerning collectors also expect more than a compelling story. They expect exceptional materials, meticulous finishing and technical integrity, so the Indian identity must complement these standards rather than substitute for them.

A brand’s origin, he believes, should be a source of confidence, not a limitation. “Bharat should not have to choose between preserving its cultural identity and meeting international expectations of excellence.” He sees room to do both while developing its own standards of creativity and distinction. His wish is to show that Indian luxury can be internationally respected without losing its soul, with timepieces that speak a universal language of craftsmanship and excellence yet carry a character that could only emerge from Bharat.

Lessons from the Golf Course and the Classroom

Beyond watchmaking, discipline shapes how he builds the brand. Krishiv has earned more than 100 trophies in golf competitions around the world, and the sport has taught him that success is rarely the result of a single exceptional moment. It is built through years of discipline, repetition and patience, and a willingness to keep improving even when progress is not immediately visible.

Precision is one lesson. Every shot requires an understanding of the conditions, a clear decision and the confidence to execute, and he applies the same principle to choices ranging from material selection and design development to the people he works with. Patience and emotional control are another. One poor shot should not decide a round; you assess it, learn from it and focus on the next opportunity. Entrepreneurship demands the same composure, since building takes time and challenges are inevitable. Consistency, he says, may be the most important lesson, because talent creates an opportunity while disciplined practice sustains performance. A brand is built not through isolated achievements but by consistently delivering on its promises. Golf has also taught him to compete against his own standards rather than be distracted by others. “Ultimately, golf has taught me that excellence is a lifelong pursuit.”

His exposure to Harvard Business School and the London School of Economics added another layer. He took away that building an enduring institution takes more than a compelling idea. It needs strategic thinking, an understanding of people and markets, and a focus on long-term value creation. Global markets read luxury differently, shaped by culture, heritage and individual aspiration, and understanding those nuances matters for collectors across India, the Middle East, Europe and the United States. Education also taught him to question assumptions and combine disciplines usually viewed separately, which at XII NOON means bringing together craftsmanship, design, cultural storytelling and a considered ownership experience. Learning, according to him, is a continuous process, and staying curious is essential to building a relevant and lasting brand.

Values, Challenges, and Credibility

Discipline, patriotism, integrity, humility and service form the larger purpose behind XII NOON. Krishiv believes success carries a responsibility beyond personal achievement. What a person creates should reflect their values, contribute to society and leave something future generations can take pride in. Patriotism, for him, means representing Bharat with confidence and distinction on the global stage, and his belief in service extends to supporting communities, preserving cultural values and creating opportunities for people to grow. He does not want the brand remembered only for its exclusivity or its materials. He wants it to stand for a distinctly Indian spirit of excellence, responsibility and enduring purpose.

Building toward that goal has not been easy. Entering a category rooted in heritage is demanding, he says, because collectors have spent generations building relationships with established houses. Credibility cannot be claimed. It must be earned through the quality of the creations, the integrity of the approach and the trust built over time. Communicating the ownership philosophy is another challenge, since it asks people to look beyond the traditional relationship between a brand and its customer. The emphasis must stay on craftsmanship, personal relationships and a considered ownership experience, not on scarcity alone. Balancing ambition with execution is just as important. A distinctive identity needs design, materials, technical expertise, finishing, and quality control behind it, and building the right network of specialists takes attention and continuous learning.

Three lessons have come out of these experiences. Patience is essential when building something meant to endure. Authenticity matters more than imitation, so the brand must learn from established houses without losing its own identity. And trust is built through consistency, not promises.

A Legacy Beyond Timekeeping

Looking ahead, Krishiv Tekchandani wants XII NOON to become a globally respected Indian luxury watchmaking brand, defined by originality, craftsmanship and a philosophy that stands the test of time. He sees growth not only as expanding a product portfolio or entering new markets but as a chance to contribute to the evolution of Indian luxury on the world stage.

Product innovation will keep exploring the intersection of horological expertise, precious materials, distinctive design and India’s cultural heritage. Each creation should have its own identity and narrative while keeping the technical integrity collectors expect, and innovation must serve a larger creative vision rather than follow trends. Collector relationships will remain just as important. He envisions a close-knit circle of people who share an appreciation for craftsmanship, individuality and enduring value, and he wants to preserve that intimacy as the brand grows through personalised experiences. Internationally, the ambition is a meaningful presence in the Middle East, Europe and the United States while staying firmly rooted in Bharat, so that global collectors see a distinctive house with a point of view rather than only an Indian luxury brand.

He also hopes the journey encourages a new generation of Indian entrepreneurs, designers and craftspeople to pursue ambitious ideas with global relevance. Over the next decade, success means earning the trust of collectors in international markets, building lasting relationships with exceptional craftspeople and specialists, and creating a sustainable foundation for growth without compromising the philosophy. On a personal level, it means staying faithful to discipline, integrity, patriotism and service while continuing to learn.

Ultimately, he wants a legacy that no longer depends solely on its founder: a house whose principles remain intact, whose creations pass from one generation to the next and whose Indian identity is respected around the world. “Our ambition is not simply to mark time, but to create something that time itself will preserve.”
