Japanese logistics firm NX Group, formerly Nippon Express, aims to earn $380 million in revenue over the next two years as it takes a bigger role in India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem. Katsuhito Kobayashi, the company’s chief executive officer for South Asia and Oceania, shared the target.
NX Group plans a dedicated semiconductor facility in Gujarat in 2027. The company will use its experience from Japan and other countries to build the ecosystem from the ground up, serving existing chip packaging units and any new chip manufacturing units that open in India.
The firm moves semiconductor manufacturing equipment and precision components, and it also handles customs clearance, warehousing, factory delivery, in-factory logistics, installation, and distribution.
Kobayashi said its solutions include vibration and shock controlled transport, temperature and humidity management, and cleanroom delivery for sensitive equipment.
NX Group will train its 900 Indian employees to handle chips and related equipment. Some team members have already joined workshops and on-the-job sessions in Japan. Over the next two to three years, the company aims to develop five leaders in five major Indian cities who will guide and train their colleagues.
Kobayashi expects freight costs to ease as more semiconductor units begin commercial operations and supporting infrastructure grows alongside them.
Headquartered in Tokyo, NX Group works across transportation, freight, warehousing, and supply chain management. It has signed a memorandum of understanding with the India Semiconductor Mission, under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, to build semiconductor logistics infrastructure and strengthen supply chains in India.
