Background-
A new Industrial Tech Corridor now links UK and German companies, giving them a shared route to win investment, create jobs and adopt advanced technologies such as quantum.
The corridor grows out of the Strategic Science and Technology Partnership. Allianz, Bosch, RWE and Siemens, four of Germany’s leading companies, support the plan, which connects industry leaders, tech firms and innovators to work together on AI and key technologies.
AI and high-value industrial applications will lead the early work. CEOs of selected industrial firms, AI scale-ups and senior officials will attend a first dedicated roundtable. Companies in both countries will also build industrial use cases at scale, matching fast-growing firms with real industry needs.
Around €20 million will go into shared quantum research between the two governments, covering areas from quantum computing and financial services to quantum sensors. The money funds five more projects and takes the total to 10.
Karsten Wildberger, Germany’s Digital Minister, said the corridor gives AI companies a strong platform to grow abroad and enter Europe’s leading AI ecosystems. Jonathan Reynolds, the UK Business Secretary, said the agreements will bring more jobs, investment and innovation to British tech, businesses and workers.
Firms are already moving ahead. Munich-based MicroAGI will open more space in London and add 180 jobs, Proxima Fusion aims to quadruple its Oxfordshire workforce, and Quantexa will set up a dedicated unit in Germany to support AI rollout in both countries.
