Mumbai, India – July 2026: Maharashtra Angels Network (MAN), in collaboration with Vsure Investment Affairs, hosted its inaugural Investor Roundtable on July 18, 2026, bringing together a diverse group of investors, entrepreneurs, valuation experts, bankers, startup ecosystem leaders and public sector representatives to discuss strengthening governance and due diligence within Maharashtra’s early-stage investment ecosystem.

Held at Courtyard by Marriott, Nerul, the closed-door roundtable brought together 13 participants representing sectors including healthcare, finance, startup incubation, valuation, entrepreneurship and public administration. Rather than focusing on investment opportunities alone, the discussions centred on establishing structured governance practices, improving investor education and promoting disciplined decision-making within angel investing.

Among the attendees were Ashish Sharma, Deputy GST Commissioner; Ashwin Kumar, Chief Technology Officer, Ideabaaz; Yogesh Walawalkar, Founder and Managing Director, GrowMyRx.AI; and Vishwajeet Singh Jadon, Managing Partner, V S Jadon & Co. Valuers LLP.

A key theme emerging from the discussions was the growing need for stronger investment processes alongside capital availability. Participants noted that while funding opportunities continue to exist within India’s startup ecosystem, investors are increasingly placing greater emphasis on governance, due diligence and investment readiness before committing capital.

Recent industry reports reflect this evolving investment landscape. While some market analyses indicate a decline in overall angel and seed-stage funding, others point to continued growth in selected early-stage investments, highlighting a shift toward greater selectivity rather than reduced investor interest. This trend has reinforced the importance of structured evaluation frameworks and informed investment decisions.

Against this backdrop, Maharashtra Angels Network announced its intention to establish a structured pooled investment framework supported by transparent governance processes and collaborative decision-making mechanisms before actively expanding its investment activities.

As part of this initiative, MAN also introduced an investor education programme covering topics such as startup valuation, unit economics, financial modelling, private-market investing and due diligence. The programme aims to equip both new and experienced angel investors with practical knowledge required for evaluating early-stage ventures.

Unlike conventional investor forums dominated primarily by institutional fund managers, the roundtable brought together professionals from multiple disciplines, including entrepreneurs, independent valuers, startup incubators, bankers, healthcare leaders and ecosystem enablers. Organizers said this multidisciplinary approach reflects the evolving nature of India’s angel investment landscape.

India’s startup ecosystem continues to expand rapidly. According to government data, the country has more than 223,000 DPIIT-recognised startups, collectively generating over 2.3 million jobs as of March 2026. At the same time, recent policy reforms—including the removal of the angel tax under Section 56(2)(viib), the continued implementation of SEBI’s Category I Alternative Investment Fund (AIF) framework, and Maharashtra’s ₹500 crore MahaFund initiative—have strengthened the regulatory and financial environment supporting early-stage investments.

Organisers noted that while these reforms provide an enabling framework, developing robust governance standards and investor capabilities remain equally important for building a sustainable investment ecosystem.

Commenting on the initiative, Anish Maheshwari, Chief Executive Officer of Vsure Investment Affairs, said:

“The discussions reinforced an important reality: Maharashtra has a strong investor base with both capital and entrepreneurial intent. The next stage of growth depends on strengthening governance, improving diligence frameworks and enabling continuous investor education. By creating structured processes and collaborative decision-making models, we aim to support a more disciplined and sustainable early-stage investment ecosystem.”

The roundtable was facilitated by Anish Maheshwari alongside CA Sahil Makkar, with on-ground coordination led by Sakshi Deshmukh.

Following the inaugural session, Maharashtra Angels Network plans to establish a recurring engagement calendar that will include startup masterclasses, monthly investor roundtables, knowledge-sharing sessions, quarterly leadership forums under the Transform Series, and regional chapters across Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur through its affiliation with Bharat Angels Networks.

Organisers believe such initiatives can contribute to building a stronger culture of informed investing while fostering greater collaboration among founders, investors and ecosystem stakeholders.
